Kelly Vernon joined the Baker group this fall as the first true Aggie. She gained her bachelor’s degree in chemistry and mathematics from Shorter University, where she played collegiate soccer at the NCAA Division II level. Since joining the Baker lab, she has expressed interest in the materials side of the group and is getting trained on the many instruments the lab has to offer. In her free time, Kelly likes to play soccer with the chemistry department’s community city team, go line dancing with her cohort, and have game nights with family and friends.
Segun Wahab joined the group in December 2022 as a postdoctoral research associate, having successfully defended his PhD at the University of Warwick, United Kingdom under the supervision of Professor Patrick Unwin. Segun’s experience in scanning electrochemical cell microscopy (SECCM) and nanoscale electrocatalysis at Warwick will be a good fit for our newly established Center for Single-Entity Nanochemistry and Nanocrystal Design and other exciting ongoing projects. Outside the lab, Segun enjoys travelling, hiking, jogging, listening to music (especially Hillsong!), and watching movies.
